חבורת תרי״ג: פרשת יתרו

Chaburat Taryag | חבורת תרי״ג · 7:10 · Parsha stories

Three lessons from Parshas Yisro with Saba Kadisha: Moshe listens to Yisro's good advice, the work of judging is shared among many judges, and at Har Sinai all of Bnei Yisrael say "Na'aseh v'nishma". Then Dubi learns his Chumash party song a little every day, the friends share the job of setting up 100 chairs, and they bring hot soup to a sick neighbor.

שלושה דברים מפרשת יתרו: מקשיבים לעצה טובה, מחלקים את העבודה, ואומרים נעשה ונשמע בשמחה.

Hello, dear children! It's Saba Kadisha. Oy, oy, oy! Last week, we saw the sea split, and this week Bnei Yisrael reach the big mountain. But first, we learn! Sunday after school, the four friends came like every week to Saba Kadisha's room. This week we read Parshas Yisro, and it has three things every kid needs to know. Three? Star-counter ready. A star for each one. Easy! Number one: Yisro, Moshe's father-in-law, heard about Krias Yam Suf and the war with Amalek. And he said: I want to be part of Bnei Yisrael too! So Yisro went out to the desert, and with him Tziporah, Moshe's wife, and the two sons, Gershom and Eliezer. And Moshe went out to greet him happily and kissed him. The next day, Yisro saw Moshe sitting alone, judging all of Bnei Yisrael from morning to evening. And a long, long line of people waited for him! Yisro said: Moshe, this is too hard alone. Appoint good judges to help you. And Moshe listened to the advice. Children, even whoever knows the most needs to listen to good advice. So we'll listen to good advice too. One star! Number two: Moshe chose good, wise people to be judges. Each one helped a little, and that way everything became easier. Leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens, and only the hardest questions came to Moshe. And now everyone got an answer quickly. Now by every tent sat a judge who helped a few people patiently, and Moshe wasn't tired anymore, and all of Bnei Yisrael went home happy. Children, when there's a big job, you don't need to do it all alone. We divide it. Everyone takes a small part, and together it becomes easy and happy. So we divide the work, and everyone helps. Two stars! And number three, the biggest: Bnei Yisrael arrived at Har Sinai and camped facing the mountain, like one person with one heart. For three days they prepared to receive the Torah. And Moshe asked them: Will you accept the Torah? And everyone answered together: Na'aseh v'nishma! First we'll do, and afterwards we'll understand. And on the third day, in the morning, a heavy cloud covered the mountain. There was thunder and lightning, and the sound of a very strong shofar was heard. And the whole mountain was smoke and fire. At the top of the mountain, a great wonder. And there, Hashem gave us the Aseres HaDibros, and all of Bnei Yisrael heard. Children, whoever says yes to a mitzvah happily, even before he understands everything, is like Bnei Yisrael at Har Sinai. So we say yes to a mitzvah, happily. Three stars! The counter is full! And just then, Yisrael came in, and with him Dubi, his little brother. And Dubi said: In another week I have a Chumash party, but the song is so long, and I want to learn all of it tonight, all at once. So here's this week's mission: One: listen to good advice, like Moshe. Two: divide the work. And three: say na'aseh v'nishma, happily. My gadget says: whoever listens learns the most! Dubi, learn a little every day! That way, it's much easier. And Dubi listened to the advice. Every evening he reviewed just a little, and after a week he knew the whole song by heart. Just like Moshe! He listened to Yisro's advice. My gadget says: good advice is worth gold. And at the Chumash party, Dubi sang out loud and smiled a big smile. And the first star lit up. On Friday, at the shul, 100 chairs needed to be set up before the big shiur. And Gadi started setting them up alone, chair after chair. Alone, this will take me all day! Come, let's divide the work! And each one took one row, and within a few minutes, all the chairs stood in straight, neat rows. And the second star lit up. On Motzaei Shabbos, Saba Kadisha asked: Who wants to do a big mitzvah tomorrow? But I'm not telling yet what it is. We will! Na'aseh v'nishma! The next morning, the friends brought hot soup and fruit to Rabbi Zalman, the neighbor who was sick. And Rabbi Zalman smiled and said: I already feel better! And the third star lit up. My gadget says: saying yes happily is the best. And at the end, the friends and Saba Kadisha sang a happy niggun together. Friends, this week we listened to good advice, we divided the work, and we said yes to a mitzvah, happily. Three stars! The mission is complete! On Shabbos night, at the table, the friends told everyone about Yisro and about Matan Torah at Har Sinai. Dear children, this week you listened to good advice, like Moshe. You divided the work, like the judges, and you said yes happily, like na'aseh v'nishma. And next week we reach Parshas Mishpatim. And what will we learn after Matan Torah? We'll see next week! And now, thank you for watching with us, and Shabbat shalom! And next week, after Matan Torah, Moshe teaches Bnei Yisrael many more good mitzvos. Which mitzvos? We'll find out next week!
